After a 47 year career as a personal injury trial attorney, I retired from the active practice of law on June 30, 2015. I remain an active member of the State Bar of California (#43347). I write for legal publications and lecture on legal topics, primarily in the area of arbitrations, mediations and tort lien claims. I am an independent arbitrator, mediator and discovery referee under my firm name, “Michael S. Fields, Esq., Arbitrator and Mediator Services.”

I have training and expertise in arbitration and mediation law, with considerable familiarity of the California Arbitration Act, Federal Arbitration Act, California’s Ethics Standards for Neutral Arbitrators and California’s mediator laws. Additionally, during my legal career, I acted as an arbitrator or mediator for well-over 100 times.
